I know I haven't been updating this for the longest time, but I just had to answer this.

My favorite bagel would be the plain one, and I want it slathered with thick cream cheese (Philadephia brand). My first unofficial job was a ticket reseller for a Reuben Morgan concert/worship last June. I sold tickets for the concert and got 10% of my ticket sales. I got about 6K? I also did that during my internship, but then again, I don't really consider my internship my real job because I didn't do anything there. :P

My first official job is what I'm doing right now: product development assistant for Sun Cellular. Wow, this is a hard question! But I want to answer it. :P Right now, I want to write a chicklit book...see, I've recently gotten hold of Christian chicklit and I loved it immensely...it was nice chicklit and really clean; not a speck of pre-marital sex or whatsoever inside it (except for one, but it was a character backstory, and there was no extra descriptions that could lead to wild imaginations). I want to write something like that, but this time it's a Filipina, and a Catholic (because I rarely see Catholics in Christian fiction). I've been toying with the idea lately and I'd really like to write a book on that. :P

And I have a dream. I want to be able to publish at least two books...one fiction and one non-fiction. :) Yeahbah.

My favorite way to relieve stress is to read. Whenever my own world is too hard to bear, I'd go dive into another one through books and destress there.
Right now I am reading The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde, which is the first book in the Thursday Next series. I've read the last book so now I'm sort of connecting the characters I've read about in the last book to the characters that are being introduced in this book. I'm almost halfway through and I'm liking it a lot. :D Thursday Next is such a lovable Nancy Drew-like character that I'd love to have her job, if a world like hers exist.

In this book, Thursday Next comes back to Swindon because her future self told her to go back there and work in the Swindon LiteraTec (Literary Detectives, SO-27) to follow Acheron Hades, the unnaturally evil being who killed two of her colleagues back in London. Hades was up to something bad, and when Jane Eyre disappears from the novel, Thursday knew Hades was connected to it somehow. That, and with her Uncle and Aunt being kidnapped as well as fixing her love life, Thursday is in for a busy time.

I can't wait to see how this turns out. :D I've said this before and I'll say it again. Jasper Fforde is a genius. :)

Other books that are in my to-read list are the following:

The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde

The Divine Secrets of the Ya-ya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells

The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck

Other books will be added here once they arrive (from packages sent) or when I get to buy them. :D

of oil spill the Philippines has ever had. In fact, Western Visayas is
already in a state of calamity and more oil is still leaking from the
sunken vessel. :(

It’s hard that it seems like we can’t do anything…but WE CAN! How? Get a haircut? :)

[Excerpt taken from Yam’s LJ]

TV Patrol had a short clip about human hair as a solution for oil
spills after giving news about the Guimaras catastrophe. This is very
interesting. Did you know that around 1.4 million pounds of hair can
‘adsorb’ (not absorb, but adsorb
- 11 million gallons of crude oil?! Just think how all the salons in
the country can help out. Even barbershops. (I’m serious about this)
This is a non-expensive, very feasible way of helping out.

Someone just died today from inhaling too much of the fumes from the oil spill.

Read more about hair and oil-spills HERE.

CUT IT FOR A CAUSE!

You can donate your hair to help clean the Guimaras waters!!! Please click here for the full story. Time is very precious and the oil slick is spreading so fast that we must take a part in helping out.

Reyes Haircutters and Ricky Reyes salons are collecting hair and will be delivering them to
the disaster area. Philippine International Hairdressers Association is
also helping out to address the issue.

So if you’ve been planning a haircut, this is the best time to get
it now! Guys, if you can, go shave your heads just this once! Girls, get
that flattering cut you’ve been wanting for so long! You’re not only
getting a new look, you’re also helping the environment! Go to any
Reyes Haircutter or Ricky Reyes Salon branch and get a haircut now!

Please do repost this message on your blogs, LJs, Multiply or Friendster bulletin boards. Let’s do our part. :)

Too bad I don’t need a haircut right now. :-s Unless I find a cut I
like. Maybe I’ll look for one. Hmm. Think I would look nice with bangs?
That’s a thought. But tell your friends about this! :)

Okay, since it's book sale season here in the Philippines, let's share some book love to each other. :) I did check out other's booklists in Vox but let's get some activity here. :P

I'll be posting some of the books I'm currently reading and have read recently, with some comments and in turn, you may share some of the books you think I'd enjoy reading, or you really enjoyed reading and you wanted to share. :D (Did that make sense? Haha)

CURRENTLY READING:

Anne of Avonlea by LM Montgomery - I am actually re-reading this because I was bored, and I wanted to go through my Anne of Green Gables series again. :) Lovely book. Though among the entire series, I enjoyed the books in the series that starred Anne herself. The latter books are focused on her children already and though they were interesting, Anne was still a lot more interesting than the others. :)

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee - The first classic I bought without being able to watch any cartoon or TV show related to it. I am not really a classics person but since I know there are so many good novels in the classics genre, I thought of picking one up and trying it out. And besides, TKaM has been recommended by this website, and it piqued my curiosity.

Something Rotten by Jasper Fforde - I read this on Mela's blog and as I was browsing through Powerbooks, I saw this and decided to try it out. Looks interesting. :D

Basically, that's all I'm reading right now. :P I just finished three of the five books I bought yesterday (they're all YA books so it's a pretty quick read). :D

RECENTLY READ:

Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh - I loved the movie (starring Michelle Trachtenberg and Gregory Smith) and I've been wanting to read this book for a long time but I never got around to it. I finished reading it last night and though it's sort of a bit harder to understand than the movie (Harriet is indeed an individual and her thoughts were sometimes hard to follow), I loved it. :)

Private by Kate Brian - Found this at Powerbooks and got curious. It was nice, though very bitin because it's part of a series pala. (And just a sidenote, I don't like buying books in a series if I know I won't be able to read all of them. It's like getting a book with a sequel...though most novels end without leaving a lot of things hanging, I'd always want to acquire a novel's sequel especially if I loved the book). It's pretty good and it sort fo reminds me of Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld (though I've never read that; I just know it's a boarding school novel) but the main character kept on disappointing me. Maybe she'll be better in the next books, but I'm not really sure if I'm going to buy the next ones.

Anne of Green Gables by LM Montgomery - I will never tire of Anne Shirley. :) If you haven't read this, DO READ IT! I'm sure you'll fall in love with Anne as well. :)

Finding Your One True Love by Bo Sanchez - Funny and practical book. :p You'd have to read it to really get it. :)

High School Musical: The Junior Novel - I can't resist! Reminds me so much of Og Mandino, and it's very inspiring especially for a fresh grad like me. :D

Blink by Ted Dekker - Great book, though not really Dekker's finest. I like the premise of the story and how the main character understood his gift, but the ending was kind of blah for me.

Savannah from Savannah and Savannah by the Sea by Denise Hildreth - Christian Chicklit! Great book, if you enjoy a long read. This is actually a trilogy but I haven't got the second one (see, this is what I mean). Savannah, the main character is pretty funny, and I love how she treats the people around her but the book could use to lose some of the side stories that don't have direct connection with the main storyline.

Searching for God Knows What by Donald Miller - I love how Donald Miller is funny but drives a serious point at the same time. :) This book is wonderful. I can't wait to read Blue Like Jazz.

Thr3e by Ted Dekker - FABULOUS BOOK. :) This has got to be one of my favorites on the books I've read since June. I love the characters, I love the story and I especially LOVE how the ending turned out. Kept me up for a couple of nights. :D

House by Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti - Not exactly their best work, but it was okay. I might need to read it again to appreciate it.

Dreaming in Black and White by Laura Jensen Walker - The first Christian chicklit I've read and I love it. :) The main character reminds me so much of Becky Bloomwood/Brandon of the Shopaholic series but instead of being shopaholic, she is a movie junkie. :) It's very wholesome, a breath of fresh air from the other chicklit books. :)

There you go. :D I always have fun talking about books. And another trivia about me..I don't like hardcover books. I find them too bulky to carry around. I know they last longer than paperback books, but they're just hard to carry around especially when I'm out of the house, plus I hate getting their dust covers wrinkled. -_-; Haha, weird.

Okay now I shall cover my other books in plastic. :p
